Uniquely Created!

We all have people we admire, people we look up to, even
people we want to be like. We like their style, their poise, the way they
command a room…you name it. They seem to be so put together. And we are
waiting and hoping that one day, when we have it all together like said people
then maybe we’ll step out…maybe then we’ll say what God asked us to say,
maybe then we’ll do what we are called to do, maybe then we’ll matter and make
an impact. But until then we should hide and not do what we ought to do because
it doesn’t look as good as what others are doing. Well, with all due respect,

Let’s take a case study of the human body. A functioning
body is one that is completely healthy and not missing any parts. When
someone’s body is missing a part we usually refer to the person as disabled.
When something is messed up in the body, it reacts and we say that the person
is sick. Basically every single part of the body is important. The Bible refers
to us as “The Body of Christ”, we are part of a body and each of us has a
different function. Just like the human body, the body of Christ needs all
parts for it to be fully functioning. Apostle Paul says the following to the
people of Ephesus

“He makes the whole body fit
together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other
parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Ephesians 4:1

If the hand wants to become an ear, who will be the hand?
Apart from that, the hand’s function is totally different from the function of
an ear. They weren’t built the same way because they both have different
functions. You will not be like so and so because you were built for a
different function. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for mentors and their
contributions in our lives, I’m all for learning from the people that have gone
ahead of you. What I’m trying to address is originality, being yourself in all
that you do, being content in the season that you are in and believing that you
matter and you are enough.

Some of us wonder why our functions seem hidden. Why does it
seem like we get the short end of the stick? We don’t get the stage, no one
knows what we do even though we give our best, and we don’t seem to be
acknowledged at all. Well, does anyone know what their spleen looks like? Do
some of you even know that you have an organ called a spleen? No one slaps
makeup on a spleen and poses for the camera! It is never on display, yet it
plays a vital role in the body. Stuff goes wrong when it is not there. Same as
you, sometimes you are hidden. You serve silently and the body functions well
because you are in it. And sometimes your season to “shine” will come because
you have been faithful even with the little. But do not let that become the
motive for your service; we serve as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23) and not so
that we can be recognized!

Some of us argue that there are so many people already doing
what we are supposed to be doing and they are well ahead of us too. Look at
your hands; you have two hands that are completely alike with 10 fingers. Why
didn’t God give us just 1 hand? They both do the same thing anyway. Well, try
tying your shoelaces with one hand! Or how about you have 8 fingers instead of
10, how will that work out for you? You are important, you are special, and you
play a very unique roll that cannot be filled by anyone else. If you do not
play your part then you affect the whole body. The body becomes sick or

The Body of Christ needs you to step up and play your part.
You are important. Don’t ever look at yourself and think that you are
unqualified to do what you are called or led to do because of your age, accent,
background or experiences. If God says go please don’t ask twice and go. Your
obedience is key. Someone somewhere is waiting on your obedience so that they
can obtain their breakthrough. Someone’s miracle is tied to your obedience. The
whole body is counting on you, don’t let it down. And above all, amazing things
are on the other side of your obedience…just taste and see! I honour you.
